Public Relations

For someone who enjoys talking to people, hearing their stories and then putting those stories into their work is a perfect example of why I chose to study public relations. As a graduate of Cal State Long Beach's Journalism and Public Relations Department, I’ve been lucky enough to test, broaden and discover abilities as a student and a future PR professional. I’ve been pushed beyond my limits, I’ve discovered strengths and weaknesses, I had to break out of my comfort zone and I’ve learned from some of the best and the brightest.

Here are some examples of the PR work I've completed in the past.

The Open School

Campaign

It is required for seniors to partner with a nonprofit and develop a PR campaign based on the organization's goals. I chose to work with The Open School and developed a campaign titled, "Opening Doors."

Unite For Change

Campaign

Unite For Change was a PR campaign developed by myself and my team for Long Beach District 3 Councilwoman Suzie Price. This campaign focused on raising awareness and funding for a new homeless work program.

Crisis Communication Plan

Part of our requirements as a PR student was to reach out to a nonprofit and develop a crisis communication plan. This was a semester long project with constant communication between student and organization.

Long Beach Aquarium

Project Proposal

We were to develop a project proposal for the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific that celebrated their volunteer staff. This was one of many assignments that demonstrates my abilities as a PR professional.

Press Release

As PR students, we are to be knowledgeable about press kits and what type of documents go into developing one. I pulled this press release from a press kit I put together as part of our publishing requirements.

I created this media alert for an organization called A Million Thanks. The alert was for a fundraiser hosted on Camp Pendleton where guests can participate in a round of golf, followed by a silent auction, dinner, and more.
